I recently purchased a 2010 Malibu. I
changed the control arm and the front strut
both on the drivers side. When accelerating
from a complete stop it makes a strange
popping noise. Does it also when coming to
a stop. Does not do it when accelerating
when car is already moving. Any suggestions
the noise is driving me insane due to hearing
my wife complain about it. Thanks

I might loosen the bolts while the car weight is on the suspension to allow the parts to align themselves. Then torque them to the proper torque.

Did you inspect the CV axle joint. Are the rubber boots intact? Ripped and leaking grease? They start to click when going bad usually.

I actually finally after about 7 hours figured it out. On the control arm that was recently installed one of the factory installed bolts was not tightened all the way. Very easy and simple fix. The car no longer makes the noise.
