What could be causing a loud popping noise when braking, accelerating, or turning?

Asked by statman Nov 02, 2012 at 05:51 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I hear a loud popping noise in the front end when I am stopping or accelerating and sometimes when turning.  It is just the one pop each time.  Any ideas as to what it is?

C.V. joint in the half shaft, ball joint, tie rod end. Whatever it is get it fixed before something falls apart and leaves you stranded or in an accident.
