Pontiac Solstice getting hot

Asked by Guru9RZ1S4 Jul 19, 2022 at 07:09 PM about the 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Operating temps in heat wave. My car was
getting hot so I had the fan replaced. But even
now in a 30 mile drive with AC on it will hit 116
+ if I don’t kill the AC   When I kill the AC it
instantly starts cooling down. Also when I put
a load on it the belt squeals.  What temp is
too high?

A squealing belt is a slipping belt. The serpentine belt drives the water pump to circulate the coolant through the engine to keep the engine cool. Since the belt is slipping the water pump is not working properly and that's why the engine is overheating. Hope that helps! Jim
