How many miles do you need to drive to reset the
computer

Are you referring to an OBD code being reset after a repair was made? It will usually take one or two cycles to happen, a cycle may be engine running up to temp. So start, drive, then turn off you car a couple times should do it. If light is still on then you are still setting one or more trouble codes.

Car had been sitting in the garage for two years put new battery in and tried to have an inspection performed and it could not communicate with the computer
