Rattle from front driver side at 3mph

Asked by Bre Nov 14, 2018 at 04:30 PM about the 2007 Saab 9-7X 4.2i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Also my 2007 Saab 9-7x has this rattle
like noise coming from them from
driver side as soon as you hit exactly
35mph... and only at 35.... At 34 you
hear nothing... And at 36 you hear
nothing... Only at 35.  We were told it
was the hub Assembly so we replaced
it and didn't fix it,  changed breaks and
rotors,  still didn't fix it... New tire and it
still makes the same noise.  What
could it be???!!

Bre, any way you can record the sound an post on here? I own the same platform, I can narrow it down for you.

If you're unable to record it, here's some things to check out that cause rattling. Rock the vehicle as much as you can and see if you can duplicate the sound. Most common rattle is the swaybar end links, should be tight. Next, tie rods, again, should be tight. Upper and lower control arms should be tight, no movement in bushings back and forth. Depending on the sound, could also be a rattling brake backing plate. The thin piece of plate that is behind the brakes. Depending on where you live, I've seen these rot out and become loose.
