May be correct Rusty, but not bolt would be center of flywheel cracked all the way around and broke loose from tranny.

If it is the trans, its time for a rebuild and it may be cheaper to buy another already rebuilt. If the flywheel was backing out it would be making horrible screeching noises. But you can drive it until the noise is so bad you would not want to drive it for the noise but you would have gears. Sounds like transmission.

Cracked flywheel like said above possible too, need to pull it to confirm.

The 4L60E sun shell inside the transmission is notoriously weak. If the splines strip, or the weld cracks. You will have either no reverse. Or nothing at all. That requires a teardown to fix.
