Truck dies

I have a 96 chevy silverado extended cab. It cranks
and runs fine but when I'm going down the road it
will die and the tack goes to zero I can put it in
neutral and it will start back up on its own.

could be anything at this point...try replacing fuel filter ..

I agree with Kelly. Those fuel filters should be replaced every time you think about them. If the check engine light is on and the vehicle has a noticeable lack of power, or seems to be starving, the\n definately replace the filter. Otherwise it may require a service shop visit to diagnose the problem.
