Truck dies after a few minutes of driving

Asked by Kyore Apr 23, 2020 at 06:29 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Cheyenne RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just put a new battery and alternator on my
98 Chevy c1500 and the alternator gets super
hot and I think its causing the truck to die
after a few minutes of driving. Because of this
I replaced both battery cables and tried a
different battery and a different alternator and
same problem. I also cleaned all the grounds I
could find, still dies after a while. Only thing I
have left is the plug to the alternator to
replace then I’m out of ideas.

Just replaced the alternator in a 96 1500 pick up with the 4.3 in it it will run great for a couple minutes then it dies and needs a jump to get it restarted what do you think
