I have a 1998 chevy k 3500 6.5l turbo diesel, friday I put fuel in the truck and it was running fine. Parked it in my driveway and let it sit for all of saturday and part of sunday went to start it and it wouldnt start. I kept cranking it and it finally started ran for 10 secs then died out like it stopped getting fuel. Lift pump is working. What is the most likely cause for this?

After much looking around, the best I came up with is that truck with the 6.5L diesel must have a vented fuel cap. If the cap got vent got plugged somehow it will do that. I am sure there are many other answers. Try taking the cap off and see what happens

Ill try it and see, I know they have problems with pmd box and injector pump. But it will start so I dont think its them. So im hoping this will work.

Glad to hear that you got it running. Do you have to bleed the fuel system often? Where does the air come from?

Well I almost ran her out of fuel so it had to suck some air and thennonce I let it sit it must of made its way up to the injection pump. No I have never had to bleed the fuel system before.

Okay had more problems with the truck so I changed the cps (crank positioning sensor). How do you re-learn the pcm on the truck will unhooking both batteries do this?

I have the 6.5 diesel as well and when I got home it was puking fuel from the back of the motor, where the main fuel lines come in to what I assume is the fuel distribution device? Anyone have any advice about this?
