Can anyone inform me why my Camaro takes off fine, but revs all the way when the pedal is to the floor, without much acceleration?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So not too long ago I started noticing my Camaro had been acting weird, it seems when I give it full throttle after being at around 50% throttle, the RPM's go all the way up and my speed catches up to the RPM's later without considerable amount of acceleration. Yes, I understand Camaro's aren't the fastest, but it would put me back in my seat, and the RPM's would work their way up to the top, not fly up and stay there... Could this be a problem with the Clutch? Thanks guys (3.4L V6 5 Speed)

Exactly.. The way that it's explained it sounds like the clutch is slipping until it catches up..?

You should smell the clutch with that much slipping. With a manual trans there is not anything else that could slip. I have heard of 4.3 L brakeing crank shafts and running fine.... I dont think that is likly in your case.
