what would cause the brakes to lock and skid as if on ice

Asked by allipal Oct 16, 2016 at 08:17 PM about the 2001 Buick Regal LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Buick Regal has 78,000 miles on it.  Over the past month (Sept-Oct) the car has skidded, as if on ice, when I engage the brakes.  What would cause that to happen?

Check the brake fluid level if it is low may have a leaking rear wheel cylinder and brake fluid getting on brake shoes causing your problem.
