Ignition lock housing

Asked by Herefor77 Nov 07, 2020 at 12:30 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the ignition lock housing because I
couldn't turn the key to start the car, now I can
start the car but when I cut it off the key won't
come out unless I disconnect the battery. Does
anyone know what is causing this?

Sounds like something is causing an issue with the shift lock. Whether it's the shift lock itself, a blown fuse, or just something in the way of it. Is the shifter control loose? It could be getting in the way of it keeping it from coming out
