Chevy small block 350

Asked by Mike Jun 05, 2016 at 08:32 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a 99 Suburban. Block is cracked where the
starter mounts up. I have a 350 out of an 89 Chevy.
Could the swap be done? And if it could what
would I have to do?

The electronics would be the main problem- the engine management system changed over those 10 years-

Here is the problem, the 89 block will need your 99 upper end (heads and intake). The problem with that is the 99 heads with the 89 pistons will make your compression ratio pretty high, sonewhere like 11:1. You really should find another vortec block 96+
