All VW /Audis use 5w 40 full syntheic oil. If you go to your local car store like auto zone or canadain tire even wallmart they will have a certain type of oil that is full syntheic for bmw's vw's and mecadies. You need 6 L of oil and if you find a good filter that is made for syntec oil get that. since this is an older modal vehicle i would recomend changing the oil every 8000 km of intown and highway miles combind or if its all high way miles every 10000 km.
Change the oil every 3,000 miles of 3 months. VW released a Technical Service Bulletin to dealers in 2005 stating that 1998 and later BW 4-cylinder cars should use synthetic oil, recommending 0W-40 or 0W-50 weight. MOBIL1 0W-40 was recommended by VW in Germany at the top of its list. Costs about $28 at Walmart for a 5-liter jug. The 4 cylinder 2.0 gas engine in your cabrio uses 4.2 liters. Just did my oil change to synthetic earlier this week, and made significant difference in egnine performance.
i personaly use castrol 5W 40 full synthec which can be bought at the same place. It will say for bmw, mercadies, vw, and audi right on the jug.
Will the mobile 1 o40 synthetic stop the low warning light from flashing
