ignition lock cylinder

Asked by Lorrelei Jan 21, 2018 at 02:58 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ignition lock was getting stuck in accessories. I
could take the key out but I could not shut the car
accessories off.  I replaced the ignition lock
cylinder with a new one . It worked two times and
now the new one is doing the same thing except
the key won't come out. what do I do next to fix
this issue, I'm not sure  where to go after replacing
the ignition cylinder. I truly believe this was the
issue.

I am having the exact same issue. Have you found the solution? Did you have to replace the Ignition switch too?

I have a 2005 trailblazer and have had this prob. I never did replace the key lock cyl. Instead a cut a dime size hole on the under side of the key to use a dowell. Or a pinky to push that little unlock button to release the key to shut off the acc. I had been unplugging my batterie... I googled my prob and found a youtube on the magical hole i cut out to bypass. Been using it this way for over a yr.
