These sound like two separate issues. Service engine soon light is on due to a code being set. You will need a code reader to find out why that light is on. The low fuel light goin on and off. Fuel guage goin up and down is most likely the fuel level sender which is part of the fuel pump. The whole pump assembly would need to be replaced. Good luck and i hope this info helps.

I have a 1987 Chevy Pickup with a crate engine. I start it and it runs for about 15 -20 seconds and then shuts off. I have replace the air intake hoses, fuel lines, fuel filter. I have 91 S10 with the 4.3. I am not getting the new fuel pump to kick on the relay is reading fine. Fueses are all good. But the real question is, I have 12v at the relay and only 8 volts at the connector for the fuel pump. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I changed the fuel filter also. 2 Answers
