my 2003 chevy impala's accessory power will come back on by itself sometime after i have turn the car off. It has drained my battery twice until I started disconnecting the terminals. If I press on the key while it is in the lock cylinder, the power goes out. Is this possibly the ignition switch gone bad?

yes, it is possible. research what to do with the theft deterrent system before you go fooling with it though.
