Radiator fans

Asked by george May 15, 2019 at 04:14 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Impala FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am a 2003 Chevy impala. I just bought it a
week ago and put rims on it and started
driving it back-and-forth to work. I sat in the
parking lot at work for about 15 minutes. My
phone shows and started overheating. The
stands radiator fan do not kick on while
sitting  and not sure if they kick on at all
during driving I haven’t checked all the relays
you but I hear this is a big problem in 2000
and 2005 Chevy Impala

The gist is, your radiator cooling fans aren't working? Check for applicable trouble codes, may be some codes related to cooling fan? Some makes and models, if you turn on the ac, the fan should run, does it? Some, if you unplug the coolant temp sensor, the fan will run all the time, does it? You could use jumpers from your battery to fan for voltage and ground, if good voltage and ground with no fan action, suspect the fan motor is faulty. How hot did the engine get in degrees F?
