Why is my clutch chattering?

Asked by Chris Aug 23, 2020 at 09:19 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just installed a stage 2 clutch in my cobalt about 700
miles ago. Drove it without hitting boost for the first 500 for
brake in. They didnt say to do the brake in but I did
anyways. I was running late for work the other day and
when I got into the boost I heard a loud banging sound.
When I got to work I realized my clutch was making a
horrible chattering sound. I can still shift but the chatter is
there all the time. Does get better or worse depending on
pedal position. What could it be? Damper springs? Or
something else entirely? Please help.

Did you surface the flywheel before installing the clutch? You need to pull the clutch and see what happened.
