Egr valve and won't work in drive

Was having trouble with my 2001 Toyota Camry
took it to get the CEL checked and it was the EGR
valve. It explained all of the issues. We replaced it
and nothing changed, we were still having the
same issues. Today I tried to drive it and now it
only works in reverse. When I put it in drive it does
catch and completely locks up. You can't even
push it while in drive or neutral. Any ideas of what
the problem may be?
