Slow acceleration

Asked by Guru84CGP Dec 22, 2019 at 12:43 PM about the 1991 Toyota Camry DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1991 toyota camry 4cyl it has 160,xxx miles on it.
I'm having an issue with acceleration. When engine is warm
or cold while driving when I come to a stop and proceed to
accelerate theres a hesitation. It's very slow to pick up
speed but once it does start picking up speed the car runs
fine. I've changed the fuel pump fuel filter spark plugs and
wires and cap I've cleaned out the throttle body and
checked out the catalyst converter (it was solid no particles
shaking around). Theres no CEL light on and car starts up
fine and shifts fine I've also check ATF level and levels are
full. The problem only happens when beginning accerlation
from stop after the car picks up it runs just fine. I'm at the
stump and I'm not sure where to check from here.
