Slow acceleration

Asked by Meiklo Aug 15, 2019 at 02:16 PM about the 2018 Toyota Corolla iM Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just moved to Las Vegas from Philadelphia.  I
have a 2018 Toyota Corolla IM. During the
daybtime in 100+ weather my car lags. When I hit
the gas it goes very slow at first then finally
catches up. I went from about 35mpg to 25mpg. I
am a uber driver so I have 50000 miles on the car. I
have no check engine lights and yesterday I
smelled gas outside the car but only for a few
seconds. When the sun goes down the car will
drive normally. And I do have the a/c blasting
during the day. I have driven cars here before with
no issue from the heat.

The AC compressor uses power from the engine to run. The cooling fans also put additional load on the engine. Since your car is new and you may have warranty coverage why don't you talk to your dealer about this?
