I'd have to say that is a reluctor for the wheel speed sensor. Is there a wheel speed sensor back there? Do you see any wires running to the backing plate?

Agree, that has to be a speed sensor reluctor wheel. You may get lucky and the ABS still work. It depends on what part broke off and how much of it.
