98 grand Prix gt only starts when it wants

Asked by Pontiaccrazy1 Mar 15, 2017 at 09:06 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 Dr GT Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 98 grand Prix only starts when it wants. Can't
jump it off. The only way to start it is to use
screwdriver and touch starter to solonoid. How can
I fix? What can I do to fix this issue?

I've known a multiple people that have had the same issue. The only thing that fixed it was having the ignition column switched out that has an anti-theft device in it period or what you can do is when you go to start it and it doesn't start drop it down into neutral put it back into Park turn the key off and wait about 10 to 15 minutes. If that happens then you need an ignition switch
