98 Grand Prix GTP

I have a 98 Grand Prix GTP and it has a rod knock I
bought a 99 Grand Prix GTP if I take the enigine out
the 99 and out it in my 98 will the enigine from the
99 hook up to my 98 transmission??? 4t65e

If I recall correctly, motor for both years is the same, however there were some subtle differences in the transmissions. They will mount up the same, but I believe the fourth gear on the 4t65E has a longer gear ratio. So to answer your question you should have no issues bolting the transmission to the motor… But since you're removing the motor why not remove the motor and transmission from the donor car??
