right turn signal makes both sides flash

the left signal works normally, but when i move it to the right side,, BOTH sides flash..

how do i fix this??
i think it is the  multi position switch.. and if it is... do i need to pull off the steering wheel
?

One of your bulbs on the right side is not installed correct. Shorting across both contacts, turning on your other lamps. Is this only on the rear? If so it is shorting to the brake lamps, if it is front and rear, then it is hazards, or park lamps.
