My car hesitates to accelerate.

Asked by Ruben Jan 31, 2017 at 10:48 PM about the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT Spyder

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I'm at a red light my car car
shakes a bit and the rpms lower. Whenever
I go it sounds like it backfires but lags
really bad to actually accelerate. Also
whenever I step on the pedal all the way
down it won't go for about 2 seconds then
immediately rpms shoot up and my car will
take off. I have cleaned the maf and
throttle body but nothing changed and I
can't take it to get the codes read I have
no check engine light on.

You could have a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter,m when is the last time you had a complete tun-up on the car. I would even look at the camshaft sensor...
