Break light issues driving

Just bought a 2000 jeep grand. When I drive the break
lights are illuminated but once I come to a complete stop
they go away

Check your brake pedal position switch, it's what turns the brake lights on when stopping. The switch is mounted by the brake pedal lever arm.
