SOFTWARE UPDATE ISSUES

20

Asked by anicesmile Aug 07, 2018 at 11:55 PM about the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: General

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee that has the latest
update as far as unconnect and CarPlay goes.
Today I plugged in my iPhone with a usb cord to
charge my cell phone and play music, then out of
no where an extremely LOUD beep begins and my
radio screen goes completely black. The words say.
“SOFTWARE UPDATE PLEASE REINSERT USB
DRIVE” however, I didn’t have any type of software
usb update plugged into the vehicle. I was just
driving listening to music. Now no matter what, i
can’t get this screen to change. Not even for the
back up camera. How do I fix this issue?

I asked my dealer and they said I needed an appointment AND they’re charging me a fee of $130 just for them to check it out. Lmao so back to the public for maybe a better answer than me spending that money.

2015 WK2. Had the same problem. fixed it by unplugging the ipod and turning off all cell phones within range. Then I cycled the ignition. Problem fixed.

If the dealer tries to stick me with a bill for this screw up from Jeep. I’ll refuse to pay it. It’s clearly their fault with this so called software update. Like s fool I tried it around 30 times. My radio doesn’t work, Gps doesn’t work, I needed the gps, almost got into a accident.Im disgusted, I take it back to the Jeep dealership on the 25th. I made the appointment last Thursday.the 19th.

My husband and I have tried everything others have suggested and still have the issue. His last resort is to disconnect the battery and reconnect. Last thing we will do is take it to a Dealer. I, like others, are frustrated and angry in trying so many different ways to fix this issue. My husband and I have been trying the various suggestions on the Web all morning, and again, nothing is working for us. So darned ticked off!

My radio says: System Update Updating Do Not Remove USB device Approx. time 30 minutes There is no usb device hooked up, we have tried soft reset as well as disconnecting battery for 1/2 hour - and no change.
