4wd is now 3wd

I was out driving around and got stuck so I tried to put it in
4-wheel drive and it didn't fully engage and so when I hit the
gas something made a loud popping sound and went from
4 wheel drive to 3 wheel drive. Have tried to look around to
see what it might be but not the smartest person. So I
wouldn't know what to look for that could have broken. Any
ideas?

Unless you have lockers or limited slip on both axles your Jeep can spin wheels on both the front and back.

What I'm saying is I out it in four wheel drive all four tires spun for a second it made a loud pop and then only three tires where spinning. Need to know what some ideas are on what could have broken that would make it go from four tires spinning to just three
