98 Jeep Grand Cherokee wouldn't start until steering wheel jiggled.

Asked by Zach Feb 17, 2021 at 08:07 AM about the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The day before and the morning of the problem my jeep started just fine. I stopped at someone's
house to talk for a while and got back in the jeep to start it up but it wouldn't even try. The lights were
on, the power was completely fine. I turned the key fully but there was no clicking or anything. Finally I
jiggled the steering wheel a bit and it started up just fine and continues to start up fine now without
issue. I'm just curious what the issue might be or if there even is one at all, thanks.

Well the jeep broke down at a gas station and wouldn't start back up. The only way I was able to get it started was by putting it in neutral and then it barely started. Local mechanic says it was a connector issue.
