98 Jeep Grand Cherokee cranks, but won't start

Asked by Ryan Feb 12, 2016 at 02:58 PM about the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My jeep was running fine one day, later I
leave for work and it won't start. The
battery was pretty dead so I had it checked
and it was fine so I had it recharged. It still
didn't start. Tested the alternator twice and
it's good. It is getting fuel and spark.
Replaced the crankshaft sensor,
distributor, rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs
and cables, tried starting it with a bit of
starting fluid and it would only backfire. I'm
frustrated and out of ideas now. Any help
or other things to try would be greatly
appreciated!

test your fuel pressure by pressing the shroeder valve on the fuel rail~ you should have like 80-90 pounds of pressure...make sure that the fuel pump is running...what happens with the in-tank pump is that they need fuel to keep them cool, and they will burn-out in a heartbeat...so check that pump to see if it's okay~
