How to replace automatic transmission fluid Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8L V6 automatic

Asked by Feb 02, 2017 at 08:50 PM about the 1991 Ford Thunderbird LX

Question type: General

I have a 91 3.8 Tbird, I put the wrong auto transmission fluid , I understand there is no plug like for the oil pan, do I have to suck it out thru the dip-stick hole to replace it with the right one. almost 3ltrs. if I'm right, and what is the right fluid called, exactly.
thank you

You'd be sucking a long time, easier to remove the bottom pan, purchase a filter kit, it will come with a new gasket and filter. You want to use DEX/MERC fluid found anywhere.

Thank you, helps alot but too much work for a vehicle I only need a few more month, maybe I'll just drop the pan to get out what I can, or just try to suck out what I can thru the fill hole, top it up with the right fluid, Dex2 and hope it reduces the slipping enough to make it more drivable... thanx again
