I have a 92 5.0 LX Mustang with a 5 speed manual tranny. What all is involved with swapping it out for a C4 tranny?

Question type: Car Customization

The pedals in my Mustang are too close together for my big feet.  I do not feel safe driving it.  When I hit the brakes my foot sometimes also hits the gas.  I figured that an automatic tranny would solve my problem.  I need to know what parts are involved in the swap.  I want to do it right with correct auto tranny pedals, driveshaft, shifter, etc.

It just SEEMS like your feet are too big. Unless you wear size 15 clown shoes ,you'll get used to it.The first time I got back into a standard, after many years of only automatics, I bought a 70 mustang and I had the same feeling about how big my feet must have grown. Enjoy the fun of the stick, you'll get used to it.

Yes, I am aware that AOD transmissions were used on my year of Mustang. Its just that I had heard that the AODs gave a lot of problems. I wanted the 5 speed when I bought the car. The transmission has been giving me some problems due to heavy abuse from previous owner and needs to be rebuilt. I believe that I will just have to get used to the pedals. The transmission kind of spooked me because I was stuck at a traffic light a few times and I could not get the car in 1st gear. I would finally get in gear and it would not want to let go of 1st. Then I fat footed the gas and brake pedals a few times. Like Chassy said. I just need to get used to it. It will drive better when tranny is rebuilt. Thanks guys for your help.
