Runs fine, dies out. won't start, let sit. Then starts up again

Asked by GuruT6QGQ Jul 19, 2018 at 02:00 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ive had my truck for 2 years, and havent had a
problem. It started after we had a hot day of 120°.
It happened 3 times within 3 weeks. My truck drives
fine around town. But when i drive 30 mins to work,
it will shut off at stop light. Ill try to restart, it'll
putter and die, I'll try again and it will just crank no
start. I'll let it sit 30 mins-1hour and it will start and
run fine.it didn't over heat, I kept an eye on the
temp. Has new water pump, thermostat, alternator,
spark plugs. Does need a new battery.

Update:got new battery but now it's shuts off more frequently. Thought it was fuel pump but they say once it goes out, it goes out. Maybe fuel pressure regulator?
