4wd service light comes on periodiacally. Is this a major problem?

My service light comes on that says Service 4wd.  Is this a problem?  My mechanic says it is in the switch.

it may just be a switch like the guy siad but it could just be low on fluid to

Kyle, I assume you mean the transmission fluid could be low? Have you had any issues with the cruise control? I just bought this truck and cruise does not work. Any suggestions? Dave

i had an issue with my 03 and it was a bad switch in the dash, had it replaced and never had the issue again

Thank you Terrence. I will have that done. Also, cruise control does not work. Fuse is okay. Any suggestions? Dave

kdp,,, if cruise does not work , check Ur brake light switch , usually the culprit ,,, had the same thing in my 2010 Colorado and this was the problem...

Sorry kdp , guess U have it fixed by now,,, didn't see this all took place 3 yrs ago,,, catching up , lol...
