Service parking assist light on

Asked by bobpar Mar 23, 2019 at 06:32 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Park assist light came on. Changed faulty sensor. Fixed the problem until I
drive forward about 100 yards and service light reappears and the yellow light
on park assist switch comes on. Put truck in reverse and park assist light off
and assist works normally.  Also if I start truck and put in drive but do not move
forward park assist light does not come on. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Finally took the truck into the dealer and they were puzzled at first...they changed park assist model under the passenger seat when that didn't.t fix they replaced wiring harness to park assist sensors and that resolved the issue. The assist worked in reverse which was puzzling and failed at exactly 40 kph in forward. All I can assume is that the onboard computer does a check at that speed and detected faulty wiring. Question: I wonder if I had got the truck up to 40 in reverse would it have caused the failure.
