I have a 2000 Monte Carlo as 3.8 and it starts but when I put it in rev or drive it dies on me I need to know why

yes. take a look at your EGR valve (smog control device). this one introduces the exhaust into the intake under decel and to simplify the explaination >>>http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=9ifz8YdN2kM
