1976 is a 2nd gen Monte Carlo, the 78 is a 3rd gen, so there is a style change between the two. 3rd gens are 8" shorter on the wheel base, and 6" narrower than your 2nd gen Monte. You need to stick between 73 and 77.

Thanks man I appreciate that alot. Im restoring my monte and want to make sure these years are interchangeable. Thanks!
