Dome lights won't shut off when doors are closed on 1980 corvette.

Asked by Brecar87 Oct 25, 2016 at 07:40 PM about the 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All dome lights work as they should when car is running. Dome light works
with light switch when car running. Problems starts when key is out. Can't get
dome lights to shut off.

Usually dome lights have three positions, On, Off and On when the door opens. If it is set to On all the time then it won't turn off when you close the doors. If the door switch is defective it could also leave the light on but the Off position would still turn it off.

78-82 Corvettes have a courtesy light timer that keeps the interior lights on for a short period of time after exiting the car. That module may have failed, keeping the lights on.
