How do you know hood lights are off when hood is lowered?..Battery was drained

Car wouldn't start// Got new battery... hood lights are draining battery..Are hood lights off when hood is closed?

Does a 2005 Mitsubishi galant have a interference engine? Yes or no

Follow the wire from the hood lights down to the connector and unplug them, they are down near the corners of the inside of the front fender. Mine shut off when the hood is half way closed.
