1974 Corvette small block fuel pump replacement

Incorrectly installed pump, I think I bent the rod activating the pump, won't
slide up or down, how do I get the rod out to check it, to see if it's bent.

I would not run an electric pump with the bent rod still in place. Either way you need to remove it.
