What should I buy as my first car?

I am new to US. This would be my first car here. I am
looking to buy a car for weekend road trips, not as daily
use. I am getting driver's license here next month (I have
license from other country and driving for like 3 years now.)
Planning to use it for 2-3 years.  
Need some suggestions.
Budget 10k.
Seadan.
Model? Mileage? Year?
