Without a lot of modifications, up to 1981 that motor could go into. From 1982 to 1995, there are ways to put that motor in and bypass the computer system by hooking it up old school so to speak. But there still is the transmission to make work properly. I know its ben done, I just haven't done it myself. Just would have to research it.

Thank you. I am looking for an easy swap, so looks like I'll have to find a 1981 or older.

It is not a matter of fitting so much as smog issues. You can't put an old engine in a smog controlled vehicle legally. The LS small block took over around 1995. You should be able to put your engine in a non-fuel injected truck up to around 1986 (I think) but to be legal you would need the 1986 smog devices on the engine. I would stick to trucks that did not come with catalytic converters. The 3/4 ton and the 1 ton trucks did not have cats for a while when the 1/2 ton trucks did.
