changing my timing belt

my 87 944 has only 12,000 miles on the timing belt however it was last changed in 2011 just hasnt been driven a lot of miles since 2011 but i am also aware it has been almost 4 years since the change can i make it longer or what should i do

Age is usually not a factor in when to change a timing belt, the amount of mileage on it is. At 12K miles you should be good to go.

I think your '87 has the spring tensioner. After 4 years, I'd re-tension the belt and drive another couple of years before changing it. Do the same with the balance shaft belt, although that belt requires the special Porsche tensioner tool.
