Sounds like the sensor in the door is broken which would explain why the light stays on. Probably a stupid question but there isn't a switch on the light itself to shut it off is there? Also, you could just remove the bulb so the battery stop going dead.

Try turning the car on all doors closed pressing the dome light button then turning off car and press lock These cars will keep the dome light on if the engine is off but the difference is you can't turn The dome lights off without turning the car back on

Just found the solution to this problem which I had myself. The dashboard dimmer wheel scrolls up then clicks into a fully up position. In this position, the dome light stays on even when the car is off and all doors are shut. If you scroll the dimmer wheel down past that clicked position, the dome light will turn off normaly.

I just had to remove the dome and unplug the light. I've had this trouble before and it was associated with the driver's door indicator light saying it was open. Now all four doors and the trunk indicator light is saying that all are open I have a 96 Taurus. Amy solution?
