why does the check engine light blink and then stay steady on, could it be due to bad gas

I recently got a tank of gas that turned out not to be the best gas, I let the gas tank run down, my check engine light came on.  When I first start my car in the morning and after about 5 minutes of driving (with the light on steady) the light will start to blink.  Can this be due to the bad gas, or is there another reason.

Dear jsslgl-- That darn check engine light could indicate many things and the only way to know which it is to connect your Ford Taurus to a diagnostic computer. From your question, however, I suspect that you got a little air into your fuel system when you got that bad gas. It should reset on its own after several days of driving. If it doesn't, have a mechanic look at it. Good luck from Bovan.
