Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just Bought this Car and I'm comparing it to my friends car and i believe i am missing that hose
piece. what does that do? Pls. anyone help me!

I believe the piece you are talking about is the PCV or positive crankcase ventillator tube, what allows crankcase air to go on a one way street up into the intake----if it's missing, you'll be suckin' air and puffin out with oil smoke-

I think i don't have either of these too. hmmmm. Im going to check it now. crap... it's cold outside :-s

You must have them, in on variety or another. If the hose for the PCV valve is missing, not anything hooked up to the vacuum source you will have a massive vacuum leak, very bad, you would be able to hear it, and the idle will be very rough if it idles at all. What is that picture of?

I don't know what Bob or David are seeing but in the picture it looks like the arrow is pointing to a bushing on the throttle linkage.

Yep TS I enlarged it and you are absolutely correct, it is.

Bow on that bottom picture, it's hard to tell..but it looks like that is not a vacuum source, but being right behind the water pump it may be a heater hose. Does your heater work?

The PCV valve itself is about $20, and hoses not real expensive

I can see it in the second picture. The arrows are pointing at the gold towers not the throttle linkage. It does look like it's missing a pair of hoses from the cam cover to the intake. Probably positive crank case vents.
