map sensors

Asked by camero Jan 28, 2007 at 08:21 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

how does the map sensor effect the cranking of a 1995 chevrolet camero?

Hi Camero, The map sensor is the unit that sends a signal to the Maintenance Awareness Program(MAP.) It measures the intake manifold vacuum pressure which controls the air and gas intake and mixture. If there is a problem with the manifold vacuum pressure it would absolutely effect the cranking of the engine.
