Heater hose quick connect fitting!

Asked by Tomgator37 Dec 09, 2016 at 01:27 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had an antifreeze leak that was coming from
where quick connect pushes into the bottom
heater hose! After I got the quick connect off and
hose cleaned out ,I just pushed the hose all the
over the nipple on the pipe and used regular clamp
to tighten! It runs fine with no leaks ,my question to
you is it OK to run without quick connect fitting or
is that just to help in repairs quicker .

It is OK to run it with just a hose clamp, I have done it with never an issue. The quick fitting is there just as you said to help make the repair go quicker...
